Cotehele is a historic estate in Cornwall, set within beautiful countryside on the banks of the River Tamar. With its historic house, gardens, estate walks, visitor facilities and seasonal events, Cotehele welcomes a wide range of visitors throughout the year.
The Role
We are looking for friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Visitor Welcome Assistants to join the team at Cotehele.
This role is ideal for students, part-time workers, seasonal staff or anyone looking for flexible work in a welcoming visitor-facing environment. Full-time hours may also be available for candidates who are looking for a more regular role.
As a Visitor Welcome Assistant, you will be one of the first people visitors meet when they arrive. You will help create a warm and positive first impression, provide useful information, support ticketing and membership processes, and help visitors make the most of their day at Cotehele.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome visitors in a friendly, professional and approachable manner
Provide information about the house, gardens, estate, facilities, events and opening times
Support admissions, ticket checks, booking queries and visitor flow at entry points
Promote membership, donations and visitor offers where appropriate
Help visitors with directions, accessibility information and general enquiries
Support the smooth running of busy periods, including weekends, school holidays and events
Assist with queue management, car park guidance and visitor arrival procedures when required
Work closely with staff and volunteers to ensure visitors receive a high-quality experience
Help maintain clean, tidy and welcoming visitor areas
Report visitor feedback, incidents, lost property or safety concerns to the duty manager
Follow site procedures for health and safety, safeguarding and customer service
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, tourism, events or visitor attractions
Experience handling payments, ticketing systems or bookings
Interest in heritage, nature, conservation or the work of the National Trust
First aid training or willingness to complete basic training
Local knowledge of Cornwall, the Tamar Valley or surrounding area
